Aquababies •Session 1: June 27th to July 1st •Session 2: July 5th to 8th •Classes: Monday - Thursday from 9:30 am to 10 am (Friday is a make-up day if needed) •Registration Fee: $50 per parent/child group For children, ages 6 months to less than 3 years of age. Parents participate while baby learns water adjustment skills. Both parents are welcome to participate if they like. Parents are taught techniques to enhance their child's comfort level in the water. Basics include water safety knowledge and practices, back floats, water submersion, and plenty of fun and play. Snug-fitting reusable diapers or disposables made specifically for swimming are required for all children under the age of 3, even those who are potty trained.
Youth Swim Lessons The goal for the SECA Swim Lesson program is to create a safe, controlled swimming environment through education and training. Thousands of students have been trained to swim and enjoy the water through our program. We strive to maintain discipline, order and most of all, a positive attitude with your children. Classes are taught by the SECA Shark Swim Team coaches and SECA Lifeguards. Class Structure: A session consists of eight (8) 30-minute lessons for ages 3 to 5 and eight (8) 45-minute lessons for ages 6 to 12. The lessons are Monday through Thursday for 2 weeks with Fridays used as a make-up day if the class is cancelled for any reason. •Class Size and Instructor Ratio: •3 to 5 year olds: 8 students (4:1 ratio) •6 to 12 year olds: 12 students (6:1 ratio) •Lesson Fees: Fees for all classes are $60 per child. •Please identify a second choice when registering
Lesson Descriptions: Ages 3 to 5: Sand Sharks (Beginner) - Develop safe pool behavior and adjust to the water. Swimmers will work on the basic skills of kicking, paddling, and going under water.
Blue Sharks (Intermediate) - Swimmers will learn to move through water independently. Swimmers will be taught to float and paddle without a float belt.
Mako Sharks (Advanced) - Swimmers will improve stroke skills, build endurance and learn to tread water. Swimmers will also learn sitting and kneeling dives.
Ages 6 to 12: Tiger Sharks (Beginner) - Children become acquainted with the water, use floatation devices, and learn to float and paddle.
Whale Sharks (Intermediate) - Swimmers build upon basic skills, float and tread water. Will swim front/back, crawl and sidestroke. Swimmers will begin to gain confidence in deeper water.
Great White Sharks (Advanced) - Swimmers further refine front crawl using rotary breathing, learn breaststroke and perform standing dives. Swimmers will be introduced to butterfly and elementary backstroke. Swimmers will be taught front and back crawl flip turns, refine all strokes and build endurance.
