SECA’s mission is to create recreational opportunities for the community by providing high quality programs for both children and adults. Today, SECA is led and organized by a volunteer Board of Directors, a full-time Director, part-time support staff, and volunteers. SECA is truly community supported recreation, as less than 3% of our annual budget comes from municipal donations. Community support is vital to maintaining SECA’s park and programs.
The Southern End Community Association was formally established in 1992 as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization in response to the need for recreation, sports leagues and recreational amenities in southern Lancaster County. SECA owns and maintains 17.5 acres including the swimming pool, picnic pavilions, playgrounds, sand volleyball courts, basketball court, fishing pond, a lighted skate park, community building, Boy Scout cabins, and tennis and pickleball courts.
The original Quarryville swimming pool opened in 1949. It was built and managed by American Legion Post 603 for over 44 years. In 1993, SECA purchased the pool from the American Legion. Local individuals, businesses, and government organizations came together to contribute time and money to rebuild and update the pool for our community. The pool was dedicated as the SECA pool in 1994. Under SECA’s direction, the whole community has benefitted from access to a swimming pool. Children learn to swim, youth compete on the SECA Sharks swim team, and seniors improve their fitness through aquatic exercise classes. In 2020, the pool was renovated and a slide and water features added thanks to a community supported fundraising campaign. The pool was renamed the Albright Family Community pool at SECA in 2021, and a scholarship fund was established to help families in need.
SECA is much more than the pool! SECA’s wide variety of events, amenities, and recreational programs promote a healthier, active and more connected lifestyle for children, families and adults in our community. SECA’s programs include youth NFL Flag Football, men’s basketball, martial arts classes, summer day camp, Soccer Shots®, adult events, classes and Bingo.
SECA’s Director, Trevor Marsh, is a Quarryville native who began his role in April 2022. As a teen, he worked as a counselor at SECA’s summer day camp. Trevor holds a degree in Sports Management from Lancaster Bible College.
